The Ford F-150 Lightning just got more expensive. That's because Ford today announced increased prices for the electric pickup truck's entire 2023 lineup, which rise between $6000 and $8500, depending on the trim level.

The base-level Pro now starts at $48,769—up $7000 from $41,769. Meanwhile, the XLT jumps from $54,769 to $61,269 (up $6500). With the optional bigger battery, the XLT's price rises by $8500 to $82,769. The Lariat now starts at $76,269 (up $7000), and the big-battery version now starts at $87,769 (up $8500). Finally, the top-tier Platinum receives a $6000 increase, pushing its price to $98,669.

The company says the price hikes are due to "significant material cost increases and other factors." The news comes as the regular 2023 F-150 lineup also sees significantly higher MSRPs beyond normal model-year adjustments. Plus, it coincides with Ford's plan to reopen order banks for the Lightning on Thursday for the next wave of reservation holders.

The company points out that the price increases don't apply to current order holders who are awaiting delivery. However, it also notes that those who were invited to order but chose to extend their reservation because their desired specification wasn't available will now receive a private offer that can be used in one of the upcoming waves.

Ford does attempt to offset the F-150 Lightning's added cost by introducing some improvements. Namely, it's targeting more range from models with the standard 98.0-kWh battery. While it has yet to be confirmed by the EPA, the company is estimating 240 miles of range—up 10 miles from its previous 230-mile rating—when the upgrade makes it to production starting this fall. Ford attributes the extra range to the newly standard heated seats, which are said to increase HVAC efficiency.

Among the other additions to the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning lineup is Pro Trailer Hitch Assist that's designed to automatically control steering, braking, and throttle inputs when trying to hook up to a trailer. It's now part of the Tow Technology package that's available on the Pro, XLT, and Lariat trims and standard on the Platinum model. The truck also sees Avalanche Gray and Azure Gray metallic tri-coat added to the paint palette.
