Cinemo in-car gaming uses Dolby Atmos and haptic feedback
Cinemo, Dolby Laboratories and SmashLabs have announced a collaboration to bring music-led gaming into the vehicle cabin, combining SmashLabs’ games with Cinemo’s In-Car Game APIs and Dolby Atmos spatial audio. The Cinemo in-car gaming experience synchronises in-game events with vehicle sound, lighting, haptics and climate control in real time.
The integration translates in-game events into real-time vehicle responses through a standardised API layer, allowing the experience to be tailored to each vehicle model and its specific hardware interfaces. Dolby Atmos moves sound around the cabin in three dimensions, enabling passengers to perceive direction and distance as an integral part of gameplay.
The experience is now ready for OEM evaluation and will be demonstrated live at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, in Hall 2.1 at stand C-040 for pre-booked demonstrations. The integration supports on-the-move, parked and charging scenarios and can be tailored to individual vehicle models and interfaces.
“The car is becoming a space where technology creates moments people genuinely remember, see, hear and feel,” said Charly Lippoth, Director of Partnerships at Cinemo. SmashLabs President and Chief Executive Niccolò Cappon said the collaboration had built responsive, low-latency gameplay designed exclusively for the vehicle environment.
