Continental has been selected to supply its EcoContact 7 tyre as original equipment for the all-electric Nissan N7, with the 19-inch fitment earning top EU label ratings for energy efficiency and rolling noise. The selection reflects growing OEM pressure to optimise tyre performance for battery-electric vehicles, where rolling resistance affects range and engine noise no longer masks tyre sound.

The EcoContact 7’s efficiency draws on a new rubber compound and Smart Energy Casing technology, which reduces internal friction through material changes to the carcass, inner liner and sidewall. Its aerodynamically optimised sidewall incorporates Continental’s “aerodimple” structure — dimples modelled on a golf ball’s surface — which minimise air turbulence behind the tyre to lower energy consumption further.

Noise reduction is addressed by the Silent Pattern tread design, which refines the spacing and angles of tread blocks to suppress the frequencies most prevalent in urban traffic. Continental says the approach lowers rolling noise both inside the cabin and for the external environment, where EV quietness can amplify tyre sound relative to combustion-engined counterparts.

The approved fitment for the Nissan N7 is the EcoContact 7 235/45 R19 99Y XL FR.
