Easee and Renault are attempting the first Land’s End to John O’Groats drive in an electric vehicle powered entirely by solar energy. The five-day Easee Sun Run, under way since 20 June 2026, uses a Renault 4 E-Tech electric charged through an Easee Charge Pro unit connected to solar arrays and portable battery storage, with no grid electricity drawn.

Timed to begin two days before the summer solstice, the challenge is designed to show that solar generation, battery storage, smart EV charging and the vehicle itself can function as a single off-grid system. A film documenting the run will be released once the challenge concludes.

The vehicle’s plein sud™ specification takes its name from the French for “due south,” the optimal solar panel orientation. The Renault 4 E-Tech electric carries a 52kW/h battery and 150hp powertrain with a quoted range of up to 242 miles.
