Is Polestar’s global strategy unravelling?

Polestar sold 30,423 units globally in the first half of 2026—1,861 were in the US, representing a decline of almost 28% year-on-year. This comes in the run up to the company's exclusion from that market; Polestar boss Michael Lohscheller told the Financial Times on 9 July that "the days are over when everything was global", echoing a similar comment from Hyundai's José Muñoz months earlier.
