Lucid cuts US headcount again in desperate bid for survival

Luxury electric vehicle (EV) maker Lucid announced on 22 June that it will reduce US headcount 18% by Q4 2026 as part of cost-cutting measures to save US$158m annually, which also included axing the second shift at its Arizona plant. On the same day, Chief Operating Officer Marc Winterhoff was let go and his role eliminated—Winterhoff previously served as interim CEO from February 2025 until June 2026, when Silvio Napoli was appointed.
