Nissan has sold 1.25 million electrified vehicles in Europe since the launch of the Leaf in 2010, with close to 350,000 of those classified as full electric vehicles (EVs). The automaker announced the milestone at a media event in Barcelona on 22 July 2026, alongside an expanded electrified line-up featuring new and updated models.

Nissan’s current European electrified line-up includes the Micra EV, the third-generation Leaf, an updated Ariya and a refreshed X-Trail equipped with e-POWER, Nissan’s hybrid system in which a petrol engine generates electricity while an electric motor drives the wheels. The Leaf has extended its range from 175km in its first generation to 623km in the latest version.

The line-up will grow with an electric Juke in early 2027 and an A-segment EV developed with Renault later in 2026, giving European buyers four fully electric Nissan options. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association, electrified cars accounted for 61.3% of EU new car registrations in 2025, up from 51.7% in 2024.

Clíodhna Lyons, Region Vice President, Product and Services Planning at Nissan AMIEO, said the company was investing in multiple electrified technologies to meet diverse customer needs, from city driving to longer-distance travel. The multi-technology approach, spanning full EVs and e-POWER, reflects Nissan’s aim to broaden the accessible market for electrified mobility across Europe.
