Octillion Power Systems has opened its third manufacturing plant in India, a 13,000-square-metre facility in Halol, Gujarat, converted from an empty structure to full battery production within eight months. At full capacity the plant adds more than three GWh of annual EV battery capacity, taking Octillion’s India output past 150,000 battery systems and nine GWh a year.

The Halol facility arrives as India’s EV market accelerates across every segment. According to JMK Research, EV sales rose 43% year-over-year in the first half of 2026, passing 1.54 million units and pushing EV penetration past 11%, with electric cars up 83% and electric truck sales up more than 300% over the same period.

India remains heavily dependent on imported lithium, cobalt and nickel, and net localisation for components such as cells and motors stays below 20% for many manufacturers, per the International Institute for Sustainable Development. Octillion says Halol builds local depth into that supply base, pairing standardised production with domestic sourcing.

In a statement, Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion Power Systems, said: “India is one of the most important growth markets in the global transition to electric mobility, and this facility reflects our long-term commitment to building capacity where our customers need it most.” Nikhil Parchure, Senior Vice President at Octillion, added that the plant pairs local sourcing with the company’s global standards.
