Qualcomm named BMW’s lead compute silicon provider

BMW Group has named Qualcomm as its lead compute silicon provider for digital cockpit and automated driving systems, covering model programmes through the next decade. The agreement spans the Snapdragon Digital Chassis portfolio, including the Snapdragon Cockpit and Snapdragon Ride platforms and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite automotive SoCs.

Single-sourcing across both domains is the notable structure. Cockpit and automated driving silicon have often come from different suppliers, so naming one company for both concentrates BMW’s compute roadmap and its dependency on Qualcomm’s development schedule in a single relationship.

The two companies already work together. Snapdragon Ride Pilot launched commercially in the BMW iX3 in November 2025, the first model in BMW’s Neue Klasse programme, powering the Symbiotic Drive automated driving feature that the companies co-developed.

Nakul Duggal, Executive Vice President at Qualcomm Technologies, said in a statement that the Snapdragon Digital Chassis had let the companies keep expanding what they build together. He added that the selection reflects trust in Qualcomm’s technology and roadmap.

No financial terms or specific model programmes were disclosed. The agreement is a supply commitment for future BMW vehicles rather than an announcement tied to a named model beyond the iX3 that already carries the technology.
