SmartSens demonstrated its automotive vision portfolio at AutoSens USA 2026 in Detroit from 9 to 11 June, presenting image sensor solutions for front-view cameras, 360° surround-view systems, occupant monitoring and driver monitoring. Flyingchip, a SmartSens subsidiary, also previewed the M2 automotive image signal processor (ISP), designed to support large-scale automated driving deployment.

The company’s first live demonstration of its front-view system combined the 8.3MP SC860AT automotive-grade image sensor with the Flyingchip M1 chip to deliver environmental perception and object detection for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Its 360° surround-view system, powered by the 3MP SC360AT sensor, targets parking and close-quarters manoeuvring.

SmartSens also presented an occupant monitoring system (OMS) built around the 5MP SC533AT sensor and M1 chip. The platform detects occupant position, facial expressions and physical movements, and monitors for children, pets and unattended belongings, while supporting in-cabin photo capture.

A driver monitoring system (DMS) based on the 2.3MP SC233AT, which integrates sensor and ISP in a single global shutter device, tracks driver attention and alertness to reduce risks from drowsy or distracted driving. Flyingchip’s M2 ISP chip, previewed at the event, is aimed at the processing demands of large-scale automated driving deployment.

Wang Xiaoyong, General Manager of SmartSens USA, delivered a keynote at the event’s forum on 10 June covering the company’s CMOS image sensor (CIS) portfolio. Wang outlined a “CIS + AI system-on-chip” architecture for automotive vision sensing, combining image capture with on-chip AI processing.
