Valmet Automotive and Patria have signed a multi-year agreement to expand the production of Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles at Valmet Automotive’s Uusikaupunki plant in Finland, building on a technology transfer agreement signed in December 2025. The expanded cooperation will raise annual production capacity to hundreds of vehicles, with full ramp-up targeted for early 2027.

Under the technology transfer model, armoured vehicle manufacturing expertise is shared with selected partners to improve supply security and strengthen national industry. The cooperation between Patria and Valmet Automotive supports approximately 240 jobs per 100 vehicles produced, inclusive of the Finnish subcontractor network.

In a statement, Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President, Protected Mobility, Patria, said: “Valmet Automotive implemented the technology transfer particularly quickly, and vehicle production started in a short time. The expansion of this excellent cooperation brings us tremendous scalability.”

Pasi Rannus, Chief Executive, Valmet Automotive, added: “We will create important additional capacity for Patria quickly and to a high standard, reaching full capacity already in early 2027. In line with our strategy, Valmet Automotive has now evolved into a company serving several industries and we have secured our place in the Finnish and European defence sector.”
