VDA warns that Europe’s auto industry crisis has no off-ramp

The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has warned that job cuts and plant closures across Europe's car industry are now inevitable, marking a notable shift from resistance to acceptance at the country’s most powerful trade body. VDA President Hildegard Müller told Bloomberg on 8 July that automakers have been squeezed for too long by exorbitant energy and labour costs, as well as interminable bureaucracy; as such, it cannot be avoid that “not every production location can be there also in the future.”
