Volvo Cars has introduced Plug & Charge functionality for the EX60 and EX90 in the United States, enabling drivers to start public charging sessions automatically by connecting the vehicle without additional authentication steps. The feature is live for EX90 owners and will extend to EX60 customers when US deliveries begin later in 2026.

Once activated, the system handles authentication and payment automatically between the vehicle and the charging network, removing the need to open an app or swipe a card. Drivers can locate compatible stations through the built-in Google Automotive System and the Volvo Cars app, with access to over 35,000 locations including Superchargers and IONNA sites across the US.

EX90 vehicles from the 2025 model year require the Nvidia Orin core computer configuration to use Plug & Charge. Volvo Cars says additional charging network partners will join the scheme as the feature rolls out to EX60 customers later in 2026.
