Bosch is presenting a software-defined commercial vehicle portfolio at IAA Transportation 2026, spanning electrification, automation sensing, and centralised vehicle architectures. New hardware includes a multipurpose camera with 20 times the computing power of its predecessor and a seventh-generation radar sensor, both entering production in 2027, alongside a rigid e-axle covering vehicles up to 49 tonnes.

The rigid e-axle integrates motor and transmission for vehicles from 18 to 49 tonnes, with silicon carbide (SiC) inverters at up to 99% efficiency. Fuel cell systems span 100 to 300 kilowatts, supporting city buses, long-haul trucks, and stationary use.

Bosch’s MPC4 multipurpose camera is the first to fuse surround sensor data within the unit, applying AI to lane departure and emergency braking. The seventh-generation radar, also entering production in 2027, pairs a waveguide antenna with an in-house system-on-chip (SoC).

A European Union (EU) directive requiring sensor-based driver attention monitoring on newly registered trucks took effect in mid-2026. Bosch addresses this through a camera in its digital side mirror display, with two European truckmakers already fitting the system as standard.

ETAS, Bosch’s vehicle software unit, bases its platform on Eclipse S-CORE, an open-source initiative covering the full vehicle architecture spectrum. ServoE, Bosch’s oil-free electromechanical steering for heavy trucks, enables driver assistance through to automated driving.
