BWI Group has opened an R&D centre in the São Paulo region to provide localised chassis technology support for South American OEMs, with brake-by-wire, stability control, and foundation brake programmes as the initial focus. The facility completes a global R&D network that now spans China, Europe, North America, and South America.

Brazil is projected to exceed three million vehicle sales in 2026, a 12.1% increase on 2025, with rising import tariffs driving a wave of new domestic assembly into the country. The market development has made local engineering support a competitive expectation from chassis suppliers in the region.

BWI Group’s ninth-generation electronic stability control system is entering South American production for the first time this year. Its iDBC1 integrated brake-by-wire system, which entered mass production in China in 2025 and has recently ramped up in Europe, will also be introduced to the South American roadmap.

The foundation brake programme also extends to the region, covering integrated electric parking brake systems and callipers. BWI Group says it is the only Chinese supplier of brake-by-wire products to mainstream European and American automakers, and the leading Chinese brand by global automotive suspension market share.
