Keysight Technologies and the Centre for Assuring Autonomy (CfAA) at the University of York have announced a research collaboration to develop practical methods for validating AI in software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and generating auditable safety evidence. The work targets ISO/PAS 8800 compliance to help automakers and suppliers reduce deployment risk.

The collaboration will develop evidence-driven approaches for automotive AI safety cases, including measurable safety-scoring methodologies and practical frameworks for generating auditable safety evidence. Outputs help engineering teams demonstrate justified AI safety throughout the vehicle lifecycle.

The growing complexity of automotive AI in SDVs is placing mounting pressure on organisations to demonstrate safe and reliable operation across the vehicle lifecycle. The research is expected to inform development of Keysight’s AI Software Integrity Builder, supporting AI safety arguments and validation.
