CDTL, a developer of e-drive and electromechanical braking (EMB) systems for commercial vehicles, will exhibit at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, focusing on vehicle actuation for automated and software-defined platforms. Featured products will include the EA5000NP distributed e-axle for heavy-duty applications, an EMB system, and e-drive solutions for heavy trucks, city buses, and advanced transit platforms.

The underlying argument is that as commercial vehicles become increasingly electrified and automated, the critical challenge shifts from sensing and decision-making to reliably converting digital commands into physical vehicle motion. CDTL characterises distributed e-drive and EMB as the two key elements of that actuation layer.

Distributed e-drive provides independently controlled propulsion and wheel-end torque, while EMB converts braking commands directly into wheel-end braking force through electromechanical actuation. CDTL’s distributed e-drive technology is already deployed across multiple commercial vehicle platforms and operating scenarios.

The company’s IAA theme, “E-Drive + EMB — Defining Actuation for Driverless Commercial Vehicles”, reflects a wider industry move toward understanding how physical actuation integrates with the software and decision layers of automated vehicles. CDTL exhibits at Hall 21, Booth D37, from press day on 14 September to the final show day on 20 September.
