Cybercab launches to muted reception and a federal audit
Almost two years after the unveiling event for its Cybercab, Tesla made the vehicle available for public rides on 4 September. Within hours, however, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened a formal audit of roughly 1,000 Cybercabs to examine how Tesla determined the car meets federal vehicle-safety standards from which it has not sought an exemption.
