Does Ford’s new US$28k pick-up have a credibility problem?
Ford has offered a first glimpse of its highly-buzzed affordable electric pick-up: it will be called Fathom and start at a price of US$28,350 before a mandatory US$1,595 destination fee brings the effective base price to US$29,945. Coming on the heels of a historically large electric vehicle (EV) investment writedown, the model will be the first built on the automaker’s new Universal EV Platform; pre-orders will open in early 2027, with deliveries set to follow later that year.
