EVgo is to add more than 400 fast charging stalls at Regency Centers retail sites across the US, extending a partnership begun in 2020. The firm runs over 150 stalls at Regency sites today, and the build-out should lift the landlord’s charging footprint by over 20%.

New sites are planned for metropolitan areas in Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, Colorado, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Each will carry up to 24 high-power chargers, which EVgo says can fully charge some vehicles in 15 minutes.

Grocery-anchored siting turns on dwell time, not highway coverage. Households visit supermarkets two to three times a week, staying 23 minutes on average, close to the charging window.

Scott Levitan, Executive Vice President, Growth at EVgo, said: “EV drivers are looking for convenient charging options where they already spend their time, like grocery-anchored shopping centers. Expanding our partnership with Regency will help us meet growing customer demand while making public fast charging more accessible in the places people shop, dine and connect with their communities.”

Mark Peternell, Vice President of Sustainability at Regency Centers, added: “Expanding our EVgo partnership grows Regency’s EV charging footprint and gives more drivers reliable, convenient access to fast charging at the properties where they already shop and dine. Increasing access to fast charging like this supports the widespread adoption of EVs and advances our broader sustainability goals.”
