Ford has begun rolling out its new Ford AI assistant across the Ford and Lincoln owner apps, giving up to eight million customers personalised, vehicle-specific support directly from their phones. The rollout, which began in the first half of 2026, is now expanding across eligible vehicle lines ahead of a planned integration into vehicle dashboards by 2027.

The assistant answers questions about a customer’s specific vehicle without requiring them to enter its model year or trim, since the app is already linked to it. It can explain features such as BlueCruise hands-free highway driving, walk owners through quick fixes, and decode a warning light when one appears.

Because it connects to a vehicle’s real-time telemetry, the assistant can also answer live questions about tyre pressure, oil life, fuel or charge levels, and upcoming service needs, reached via a blue oval and spark icon on the app’s vehicle home screen. Customers can type a question or upload an image to get started.

The launch follows Ford Pro AI, a commercial fleet tool introduced earlier in 2026, and precedes a planned dashboard expansion by 2027. Ford is also rolling out Google Gemini as an opt-in alternative to Google Assistant in vehicles with the Ford and Lincoln Digital Experience, handling in-vehicle tasks alongside the app-based assistant. Mike Aragon, President of Integrated Services at Ford Motor Company, called the app-first approach an upgrade to the ownership experience customers already have.
