Hyundai Motor Group has set out the progress of its AI transformation strategy at a Seoul showcase event, detailing how digital transformation has evolved into enterprise-wide AI adoption across research, manufacturing and customer service. Its generative AI platform, H Chat Pro, has now reached more than 30,000 active users, about 80% of Hyundai Motor and Kia’s employees.

In R&D, the Crash Safety AI Assistant helps engineers compare crash test data, cutting review time by approximately 90%. On the production line, the AI Automation Recognition Service verifies vehicle IDs across around 70 processes, saving about KRW 5.24bn (US$3.9m) a year, while a reinforcement learning system for cart routing has cut downtime by approximately 86%.

In service operations, an AI-based Maintenance Support Service has cut technician response time by approximately 42%, and an automated review-response tool has cut processing time per review from 35 minutes to about 5 minutes. The Group has also launched E-FOREST: POLARIS, a manufacturing platform for building production-line AI agents.

In a statement, Eunsook Jin, President and Head of ICT Management Division at Hyundai Motor Group, said: “Building on our ongoing digital transformation efforts, Hyundai Motor Group is expanding AI transformation through the integration of AI and other intelligent technologies.” The Group plans to extend this into what it calls the Physical AI era, applying AI across vehicles, robotics and manufacturing.
