ZF has set out a technology-open approach to commercial vehicle decarbonization ahead of IAA Transportation 2026, combining hybrid and electric driveline systems, efficiency technologies and software into one portfolio for OEMs and fleets. The approach lets customers cut emissions at their own pace while balancing sustainability, performance and cost of ownership.

The TraXon 2 Hybrid transmission targets heavy-duty use where full electrification is not yet feasible, combining hybrid and electric driving modes with energy recuperation and low-emission zone capability. The CeTrax 2 drive family offers scalable electrification for combustion-engine architecture, while the AxTrax 2 electric axle family, which recently started production in China, serves dedicated EV platforms.

ZF has also introduced the e-comp Scroll air compressor, whose oil-free design improves compressed air quality, cuts maintenance needs and runs quietly enough for urban bus use, alongside electrified trailer concepts still in development. Integrated control across driveline, braking and energy systems aims to cut emissions and running costs beyond what individual components can achieve.

In a statement, Winfried Gründler, Head of Business Unit Driveline Solutions at ZF, said: “There is no single pathway to decarbonization in commercial vehicles. Customers need solutions that reduce emissions today and still make economic sense.” ZF will present the technologies at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover.
