Infineon Technologies is partnering with MediaTek to support AI-driven in-cabin experiences in future vehicles, after MediaTek qualified Infineon’s 512 Mb Quad SPI NOR Flash for its Dimensity Auto Cockpit platform C-X1. The qualification makes the automotive-grade memory device an approved option for OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and design partners developing smart cockpit systems.

The memory stores firmware and boot code that support AI-driven features at the chip level, including voice assistants, driver monitoring, travel vlog generation, environmental perception and personalised audio-visual recommendations. It also supports Safe and Secure Boot for added redundancy, built on Infineon’s MirrorBit technology with broad compatibility across automotive chips.

Infineon said automotive memory was becoming a strategic enabler as software-defined vehicles depend on high-performance chips, complex firmware and larger data stores, with rising demand for higher-density NOR flash driven by digital cockpits and over-the-air updates. The device carries AEC-Q100 qualification and supports operating temperatures up to +125°C.

MediaTek said Infineon’s automotive-grade NOR Flash delivered the performance, reliability and safety features required for its premium Dimensity Auto Cockpit platform, with its high-density design supporting the AI and user-experience capabilities central to software-defined vehicles. The companies said the qualification builds on their long-standing collaboration.
