Innoviz Technologies says Mobileye’s planned vertically integrated robotaxi business could create demand for more than 150,000 of its LiDAR units. Mobileye is targeting a US launch in 2027 with about 100 vehicles, before scaling to around 17,000 vehicles over the following five years.

Innoviz said its sensors are part of the Mobileye Drive self-driving system, alongside Mobileye imaging radar and high-resolution cameras. The current configuration uses nine InnovizTwo long-range and short-to-mid-range LiDAR units per vehicle for 360-degree sensing.

Mobileye plans to combine Mobileye Drive with Moovit’s mobility platform, fleet management and teleoperation infrastructure. That shifts the programme from supplying automated driving systems towards operating an autonomous ride-hailing service, although Innoviz is framing the potential sensor volume as an opportunity rather than a confirmed order.
