WeRide, Geely Farizon and Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings have launched a joint programme to develop a purpose-built robotaxi for right-hand-drive (RHD) markets. Based on the GXR platform, the vehicle will enter commercial service in Hong Kong before expanding to RHD markets including Singapore, the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia.

WeRide and Geely Farizon have collaborated since October 2024, when they jointly launched the GXR, which achieved fully driverless commercial operations in Beijing within four months and expanded to Guangzhou by August 2025. The RHD variant extends this partnership and gives WeRide dual capability across left- and right-hand-drive robotaxi production.

WeRide’s fleet expansion plan targets 2,600 vehicles by end-2026 and tens of thousands by 2030, with the RHD programme a central plank of that growth. The GXR has also achieved driverless commercial operations in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, extending WeRide’s operational footprint beyond China.
