Jetour T2 hits 500,000 global sales in 33 months
Jetour’s T2 SUV has surpassed 500,000 cumulative global sales within 33 months of its launch, with the wider T-Series reaching 700,000 units as of May 2026. The company claims the T2 is the fastest boxy SUV to reach the half-million milestone globally.
The T2 is available in petrol and PHEV variants. The petrol version is powered by a 2.0T engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an intelligent four-wheel drive system, with a one-touch off-road mode offering seven preset configurations. The PHEV variant is in the process of rolling out across additional markets, giving Jetour a dual-powertrain offering tailored to varying regional fuel and infrastructure conditions.

Standard equipment across the range includes a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and six airbags. Jetour says the cabin has been tuned for noise reduction and positions the interior fit as a differentiator in the segment. The model has been validated against five regional automotive standards and tested in extreme conditions ranging from the Middle East to northern Asia.
The T2 leads boxy SUV segment sales in nine markets including the UAE, Qatar, and Egypt. It has received Car of the Year recognition in Angola and South Africa, and took the Mild Adventure Category Championship at the 2026 South Africa Car of the Year awards.
Jetour, founded seven years ago, says cumulative brand sales have surpassed 2.2 million units. The company said it will continue to expand its global product lineup with localised variants and powertrain options across markets.
Why this matters:
•500,000 units in 33 months from a brand founded seven years ago is a genuinely fast trajectory.JETOUR is a Chery subsidiary that most Western automotive observers have barely registered, yet the T2 has topped boxy SUV sales in nine markets spanning the UAE, Qatar and Egypt—geographies where established Japanese and Korean OEMs have historically dominated. The speed of that penetration reflects both the product’s competitive specification at its price point and the broader pattern of Chinese OEMs gaining ground fastest in markets that Western brands have treated as secondary priorities.
•The boxy SUV segment itself is the underreported story. The global appetite for rugged, box-profile SUVs, driven by lifestyle positioning rather than actual off-road use, has proved more durable and geographically widespread than mainstream automotive coverage has suggested. JETOUR, alongside brands like Tank and Ineos, has identified and scaled into that demand faster than legacy OEMs who were focused on crossover-SUV volume. The T2’s success in markets from Chile to South Africa to the Middle East suggests the segment has genuine global reach rather than being a niche trend.
