LG Innotek is supplying automotive camera modules for the serial production of Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxi fleet, expanding a partnership that began during the vehicle’s development phase. The LG Innotek Zoox agreement covers high-resolution cameras providing 360° coverage with five different fields of view, designed for prolonged exposure to severe weather.

Zoox opened a robotaxi serial production facility in Hayward, California, last year and launched a ride-hailing service in Las Vegas, describing this as the first fully driverless ride-hailing service operated in a purpose-built robotaxi. The Hayward facility is producing the vehicles at commercial scale.

The camera modules are waterproof and designed for severe weather exposure, featuring five different fields of view to enable omnidirectional sensing with overlapping coverage. LG Innotek draws on its optical design expertise from the mobile camera module sector, with the cameras currently being assembled onto Zoox robotaxis.

The supply arrangement establishes LG Innotek as a key supplier of perception hardware as the autonomous vehicle sector prepares for growth over the next decade. The two companies have maintained a close relationship since the early stages of the Zoox robotaxi’s development, with the current agreement representing the next phase of that multi-year partnership.
