Mazda has released the Mazda CX-6e design for a fully electric SUV developed in Europe and Japan, built around the Kodo – Soul of Motion philosophy guided by a Soulful Futuristic Modern theme. Rated at 190 kW with WLTP consumption of 18.9–19.4 kWh/100 km, the CX-6e arrives in European showrooms this month.

The design team was encouraged to explore forms beyond established conventions, focusing on a stronger, more technical expression appropriate to electric vehicles. Proportion, surface treatment and wheel design were prioritised to achieve a lighter, sportier appearance without compromising premium character.

Aerodynamics were incorporated from the outset rather than added afterwards. Front vents guide airflow through the front fascia and over the sculpted bonnet, while compact digital side mirrors preserve the design’s aerodynamic purity.

Lead Designer Bahram Partaw said the team aimed to give the CX-6e a sense of tension and movement through its fast silhouette, floating D-pillar and sculpted body surfaces. A strong emphasis on Takumi craftsmanship guided every surface transition to create a sense of precision and quality.

Design Director Jo Stenuit, Mazda Motor Europe, said the CX-6e showed how Kodo could evolve while remaining instantly recognisable, expressed through proportion, surface treatment and aerodynamic integration. A 21-inch accessory wheel developed at Mazda’s European Research and Design Centre in Oberursel completes the vehicle’s visual character.
