Nissan eyes Thailand as long-term ASEAN automotive hub

Masao Tsutsumi, President of Nissan Thailand and ASEAN, paid a courtesy visit to Thailand’s Minister of Industry, Varawut Silpa-archa, at the Ministry of Industry in Bangkok on 4 September 2026. The visit addressed Thailand’s automotive competitiveness, technological advancement, and the country’s role as a manufacturing and export hub within the ASEAN region.

Takaaki Yanagi, Senior Vice President of Nissan Thailand, attended alongside Tsutsumi; Dr Nattapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary for Industry, represented the Ministry. The two sides also exchanged perspectives on sustaining the automotive sector’s growth and on strengthening collaboration between industry and government to enhance Thailand’s long-term industrial capabilities.

In a statement, Masao Tsutsumi, President of Nissan Thailand and ASEAN, said: “We were pleased to have the opportunity to exchange views on the future of Thailand’s automotive industry. As a company with a long-standing presence in Thailand, Nissan looks forward to continuing to contribute to the country’s automotive sector and industrial development.”
