Pajero returns as Mitsubishi-Nissan partnership deepens

The Mitsubishi Pajero was once the iconic model which defined the 1990s rush to SUVs, sold as the Shogun in the UK and Montero in Spanish speaking or dominated markets like the US, since the Spanish meaning of pajer has unfortunate linguistic connotations. The vehicle was synonymous with the Paris-Dakar rally at the height of the SUV boom, but as competition intensified, Mitsubishi saw volumes for it fall until production finally stopped in 2021.
