Silicon Motion Technology Corporation and MediaTek will share a keynote stage at the Flash Memory Summit on 4 August 2026, showcasing how their combined storage and cockpit technologies support AI-ready automotive storage needs. The Santa Clara session, titled “Storage Powering Agentic AI Everywhere,” pairs MediaTek’s automotive cockpit platform with Silicon Motion’s automotive storage controllers.

Stanley Huang, Associate VP of Edge SSD Business at Silicon Motion, said storage architecture has become the performance foundation for intelligent systems as AI workloads grow more data-intensive. Waheed Ahmed, Director of Automotive System Architecture at MediaTek, added that pairing advanced computing with intelligent storage is central to building AI-ready vehicles.

The presentation will also cover Silicon Motion’s Enterprise SSD work, including its PerformaShape technology, as the company extends its storage expertise from vehicle cockpits toward AI data centres. Executives argue reliable, high-performance storage is essential as vehicles increasingly function as data-generating computing platforms rather than simple transport.

The keynote reflects a wider shift among chipmakers and storage suppliers to position automotive platforms as extensions of the same AI infrastructure powering servers and edge devices, rather than treating vehicles as a wholly separate product category altogether.
