Solaris Bus & Coach has signed a contract with the City of Szczecin to deliver 20 articulated Urbino 18 electric buses to the Polish city’s public transport operator SPAK between 2027 and 2028. The order continues a long-standing supply relationship: nearly 200 Solaris vehicles have been delivered to Szczecin to date, including 34 electric buses and 17 hybrids.

The buses will use Solaris High Energy batteries and feature photovoltaic panels to support auxiliary power supply, particularly during stops. Driver assistance equipment includes blind spot warning, intelligent speed assistance, drowsiness detection, and a moving-off information system, alongside a passenger information system and remote fleet diagnostics via Solaris’s eSConnect platform.

Each Urbino 18 has 35 seats, 11 accessible from the low floor, and all vehicles are fully air-conditioned. The buses will operate from SPAK’s depot on Klonowica Street and serve urban and suburban routes in Szczecin. Each vehicle will carry up to 120 passengers and will be charged via both plug-in connection and pantograph, supporting opportunity charging at terminal stops.

The order is far from the first. Szczecin recently ordered 12 articulated Urbino 18 mild-hybrid buses, and Solaris is also manufacturing 44 hybrid buses for the separate operator SPAD, with deliveries planned for 2027–2028.
