Stellantis has installed a blanking press at its Warren Stamping Plant in Michigan, capable of producing between 4.5 million and six million parts annually for the Ram 1500 and three Jeep models. The addition brings upstream sheet metal cutting in-house and supports the automaker’s FaSTLane 2030 targets and US$13bn US manufacturing investment.

Warren Stamping Plant (WSP) and Sterling Stamping Plant, nine miles apart in metro Detroit, supply hoods, doors, liftgates and structural components for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram across the US, Canada and Mexico. Both operate three daily shifts.

WSP houses one of the fastest high-speed transfer press lines globally, known internally as “Hellcat”, processing up to 15 pieces per minute. The blanking press adds upstream capability, enabling metal blanks to be cut on site before forming.

In a statement, Curtis Booth, Vice-President and Plant Manager, Warren Stamping Plant, said: “The new press has the capacity to produce between 4.5 million and 6 million parts annually for vehicles, including the Ram 1500 and three Jeep models, the Wrangler, Gladiator and Grand Cherokee. Together, the Hellcat line and the new blanking press give WSP the ability to both prepare and form critical vehicle components within a highly integrated manufacturing operation.”

Sterling Stamping spans more than 2.7 million square feet, making it one of the world’s largest such facilities. Automated inspection technology at both plants validates part geometry throughout the production process.
