Stoneridge has detailed its new EVO ECU Platform, a centralised control unit designed to simplify commercial vehicle architecture and support software-defined capabilities, ahead of its debut at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover. The platform is built for commercial vehicles, buses, coaches and off-highway equipment, reducing system complexity while enabling advanced connectivity and diagnostics.

Unlike architectures built around numerous individual control units, EVO consolidates processing into a single platform, supporting faster software updates, more efficient diagnostics and new features without major hardware changes. It was developed with Renesas Electronics, which supplied chip technology, and Green Hills Software, which provided a modular architecture separating safety-critical functions.

Stoneridge says the design should help fleet operators improve uptime and cut maintenance complexity through remote updates and better diagnostics. Its scalable architecture leaves room for future additions such as driver assistance systems, added cameras and AI-enabled features.
