Suzuki starts e Vitara output at new Hansalpur plant
Maruti Suzuki India, the Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, has started commercial production at Plant D, the fourth plant at its Hansalpur manufacturing facility, on 30 July. The new plant has an annual capacity of 250,000 units and will build the e Vitara battery-electric vehicle, taking Hansalpur’s total annual capacity to one million units.
This marks the first time in Suzuki’s history that a single manufacturing facility has reached an annual capacity of one million units. Hansalpur began commercial operations with Plant A in February 2017 and has expanded in stages since, adding Plant B in January 2019 and Plant C in April 2021.

Suzuki now operates four manufacturing facilities in India, at Gurugram, Manesar, Hansalpur and Kharkhoda, and with Plant D running, the company’s total annual production capacity in the country reaches 2.9 million units. Maruti Suzuki has also reached a basic agreement with the Government of Gujarat, signed in January 2024, to build a second Gujarat facility in Sanand.
That plant is planned to begin production by 2029 with an initial annual capacity of 250,000 units. Suzuki said it will keep expanding capacity in India, targeting an annual production capacity of four million units by the 2030s.
