Toyota has updated the 2027 Crown with the fifth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS 5) across the XLE, Limited and Nightshade grades, alongside new exterior styling and grade-specific feature additions. All four grades retain standard all-wheel drive (AWD), with the top-tier Platinum continuing with the Hybrid MAX powertrain.

THS 5 pairs a 2.5-litre engine with two motor-generators and front and rear electric motors, delivering an EPA-estimated 40 mpg combined. The Platinum’s Hybrid MAX pairs a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine with a direct-shift six-speed automatic transmission, producing 340hp and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque.

The 2027 Crown gains a sculpted rear bumper, a new Inked black paint option, and refined hybrid and AWD badging in Satin finish across all grades. The Platinum grade adds red brake calipers and a black belt window surround; the Limited gains standard Saddle Tan seating and Panoramic View Monitor; and the three lower grades now include paddle shifters as standard.

The 2027 Crown is priced from US$41,640 for the XLE to US$55,190 for the Platinum, and is built at Toyota’s Tsutsumi Plant in Japan. The THS 5 upgrade strengthens the Crown’s hybrid credentials across its mainstream grades at a price point where competition from Korean hybrid rivals has intensified.
