Zum, the US student mobility provider, has expanded into New York, marking its 19th state as it builds a presence in one of the country’s largest school transportation markets. The Zum student mobility operator now serves more than 6,500 schools across 19 states and aims to add New York district partnerships in the coming weeks.

Zum combines technology and operations through its Zum CMX platform to help school districts replace fragmented legacy systems with connected, transparent transportation services. The New York expansion establishes a strategic presence in one of the country’s largest school transportation markets and targets the Northeast as a priority growth region.

Founder and Chief Executive Ritu Narayan said the New York entry brought Zum closer to its goal of ensuring every student has access to safe, reliable transportation to school. Executive Vice President Liz Sanchez said New York was a natural next step for Zum in the broader Northeast.

Zum describes school transportation as the largest mass mobility system in the United States. The company describes its New York expansion as part of a broader mission to modernise student transportation and expand reliable access to education across the country.
