Audi has confirmed the A2 e-tron as the most efficient model in its history, with preliminary WLTP tests showing energy consumption of 12.8 kWh per 100 kilometres for the 140 kW version fitted with the optional efficiency package. The automaker credits advances in drive technology, aerodynamics and battery tuning ahead of the compact EV’s autumn debut.

The A2 e-tron posts a drag coefficient of 0.24, the best in Audi’s compact lineup, with aerodynamic measures including air curtains and gap reducers cutting WLTP consumption by up to 0.9 kWh/100 km. An active cool-air intake stays closed during normal driving to limit drag, opening only during charging, rapid acceleration or high ambient heat.

Audi said the upgraded drive system, which pairs silicon carbide power electronics with a redesigned stator winding and low-friction transmission oil, is up to 10 percent more efficient than before. The A2 e-tron’s 61-kWh lithium iron phosphate battery reaches 89.6 percent charging efficiency at the wallbox, aided by an adapted cooling strategy.

The model also supports bidirectional charging, with Vehicle-to-Load and Vehicle-to-Home functions turning the A2 e-tron into a home energy storage system, according to Audi. Gernot Döllner, chief executive of AUDI AG, said the new model carries forward the efficiency focus that has defined the A2 nameplate since he joined Volkswagen Group in the 1990s.
