Bumblebee Power and ETA Green Power have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore integrated electric drive and wireless charging systems for autonomous drones, ground vehicles and light electric vehicles. The work targets battery platforms that depend on high uptime but still face manual charging constraints.

The companies will test how ETA Green Power’s compact drive systems can be combined with Bumblebee Power’s inductive charging technology. Target uses include autonomous drones and ground vehicles, light electric mobility platforms, specialist inspection equipment and battery systems requiring automated deployment.

Bumblebee Power says the system can deliver multi-kilowatt energy transfer across an air gap, with charging efficiency above 90% and greater tolerance when vehicles or drones are positioned on a pad. That addresses a constraint for autonomous fleets, where connectors, precise parking and manual intervention can slow redeployment.

ETA Green Power is developing integrated motors, controllers and charging systems based on a patented slotless motor architecture. Its modular platform spans one kW to 15 kW, keeping the work centred on smaller electric platforms.

The partners plan to explore joint customer programmes, feasibility studies, demonstrations, pilot deployments and funded development work. Commercial projects would require separate agreements, leaving the collaboration at an exploratory stage while the companies assess demand and technical fit.
