Coulomb Solutions (CSI) has added Megawatt Charging System (MCS) capability to its 699 kWh and 2.3 MWh Mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems, enabling CSI megawatt charging on both input and output sides. The MCS option allows the mobile units to recharge via MCS and deliver up to 1 MW of power to compatible heavy-duty electric vehicles.

The 699 kWh BESS supports up to 700 kW MCS on input and output; the 2.3 MWh model supports up to 1 MW MCS on both sides. Both units also provide 480 VAC bidirectional recharging for sites without MCS access, supporting peak shaving, energy shifting and building load supply when not charging vehicles.

David Mazaika, CEO at CSI, said the approach allowed CSI’s BESS systems to take advantage of the megawatt-charging infrastructure being installed to charge quickly and then transport energy to fleet depots to charge EVs as needed. Mazaika said MCS capability would minimize non-money-making time and maximize time charging vehicles.

The MCS launch coincides with publication of IEC TS 63379 (February 2026) and SAE J3271, two standards addressing MCS connectors, communications and interoperability that provide a foundation for high-power charging across heavy-duty transport. Both BESS units are eligible for the 2026 CORE Voucher Funding program, offering up to $300,000 in point-of-purchase rebates.
