Gatik raises US$200m in Series D for autonomous trucking

Gatik has raised US$200m in a Series D funding round led by the Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, with additional participation from Millennium Management, ARK Invest, and Intact Private Capital. The Santa Clara-based autonomous trucking company says it has completed more than 85,000 fully driverless orders with 99% on-time delivery, and has accumulated more than US$600m in contracted revenue.

Gatik’s model centres on high-frequency regional freight routes connecting distribution centres to stores for Fortune 50 retailers, grocers, and consumer goods companies. The company currently operates driverless trucks across Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, and Canada, and says it plans to scale from dozens of vehicles today to thousands in the years ahead. The new funding will support that expansion as well as continued AI and technology development.

“We have built Gatik with real revenue, deep customer demand, and AI-driven autonomous technology proven every day in live supply chains,” said chief executive and co-founder Gautam Narang. Intact Private Capital’s Justin Smith-Lorenzetti noted the firm had tripled its commitment in this round, citing Gatik’s “execution record, customer traction and technical maturity” as the basis for its conviction.

Why this matters:

  • Repeat investment from Koch signals conviction beyond a single funding cycle.Returning as an investor since 2021 and participating again now suggests Koch sees sustained execution progress rather than betting fresh capital on unproven potential, a distinction that matters when so much of autonomous trucking funding still rests on future promise rather than delivered results.
  • A “dozens to thousands” scaling ambition implies the current model is replicable, not just viable at small scale.Gatik’s stated plan to expand fleet size by orders of magnitude suggests the company believes its route-based approach can be extended across new geographies and customers without requiring fundamentally different technology, though realizing that scale-up remains the harder test ahead.
