Range Zero Emissions has acquired the West Coast operations of Ethero Truck & Energy, consolidated Ziegler Truck Group’s zero-emissions business under its own brand, and signed a commercial vehicle partnership with Hyundai Translead to distribute the XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck. The company says the moves make it the largest commercial zero-emission group in the United States.

The Ethero acquisition and Ziegler consolidation extend Range’s presence on the West Coast, giving the company coverage of what it describes as the largest medium-heavy duty commercial EV market in North America. The Hyundai Translead partnership adds the XCIENT Fuel Cell Truck to an OEM roster that already includes Workhorse, Harbinger, Zero Motorcycles, Autocar, Battle Motors, Westward Industries, Rizon, and Land Moto.

Range’s chief executive Johannes Ariens framed the consolidation strategy around the limitations of single-OEM dealerships in a market where commercial EV adoption remains constrained. “The available commercial EV market to be captured is simply too small for a single dealer to be successful at scale,” he said, adding that significant consolidation was needed to move adoption rates.

The company says the fragmented distribution landscape, inconsistent customer experience, and disconnected service networks have been structural barriers to commercial fleet electrification. Range is positioning its multi-OEM, national platform as a response to those conditions, with further acquisitions, dealership locations, and OEM relationships expected as the market matures.
