Infineon Technologies and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have launched a cloud-based platform for virtual evaluation of automotive microcontrollers (MCUs), removing the need for physical hardware. The platform cuts MCU evaluation from weeks to minutes, supports hundreds of concurrent users globally and provides immediate access to Infineon’s RISC-V architecture, removing a hardware bottleneck that has historically slowed assessment cycles.

Built on the Virtual Engineering Workbench, an AWS open-source offering, the platform provides a browser-based interface that removes local tool dependencies and isolates each user’s cloud environment. Quick Mode uses pre-configured reference applications for rapid MCU validation, while Expert Mode provides a full in-browser development environment for compilation, flashing, debugging and performance analysis.
