Defender has revealed the Wolf Series II, a military light mobility vehicle built on its D7x monocoque platform, and is bidding for the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) Light Mobility Vehicle tender. Four variants—tactical, general mobility, ambulance and utility—will be unveiled at the British Army DVD 2026 event at Millbrook, Bedfordshire, on 16 to 17 September 2026.

Designed and engineered in the UK, with the engine built in Wolverhampton, the Wolf Series II marks Defender’s first dedicated military vehicle launch since the original Wolf. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has also established a new Defender Defence Division to support defence requirements beyond the MoD bid.

The D7x monocoque construction replaces the prior ladder-on-frame format, creating a stiffer body structure and increased payload capacity. The vehicle underwent more than 62,000 engineering sign-off tests and was validated against JLR’s Extreme Event Test procedure; Defender also says it was the only vehicle to navigate all obstacles at the MoD’s independent testing ground.

Patrick McGillycuddy, Managing Director of Defender, said: “The Defender Wolf Series II is intended as a light mobility solution for people and equipment transportation for the defence sector. We are bidding for the UK Ministry of Defence Light Mobility Vehicle tender, with a modern replacement for the world-famous Defender Wolf that served the British Armed Forces for over 70 years.”
