Nissan has chosen Hong Kong as the first overseas showcase for the fourth-generation Elgrand e-POWER multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), ahead of its Japan launch this summer. The debut reflects the automaker’s confidence in the city as a market whose preference for spacious, three-row luxury vehicles mirrors Japan’s own demand profile.

At the heart of the new model is Nissan’s third-generation e-POWER system, in which a 1.5-litre petrol engine acts exclusively as a generator while electric motors drive the vehicle. The dedicated engine incorporates Nissan’s patented STARC technology to improve combustion stability, and a revised five-component integration module reduces powertrain size while freeing space in the cabin. Internal testing places system torque above 500Nm.

The Elgrand e-POWER also features an upgraded e-4ORCE electronic all-wheel drive system, using dual front and rear motors alongside real-time brake control to manage body roll, pitch and traction. An Intelligent Dynamic Suspension (IDS) system continuously adjusts damping response to suppress vibration and maintain cabin composure.

Honest Motors, Nissan’s Hong Kong distributor, has sold more than 5,000 Elgrand units since the nameplate arrived in the city, establishing it as a preferred choice among corporate buyers. Hong Kong pricing has not been announced; a local launch is expected by the end of 2026.
