Rohm has launched the AG16xFNxx Series of 80V automotive-grade metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs) targeting 48V power supply systems, which are gaining traction as a higher-efficiency alternative to conventional 12V vehicle power architectures. Mass production began in April 2026 across two package formats that reduce board space compared with the industry-standard TO-252 package.

The HPLF5060 (4.9 × 6.0mm) adopts Gull-Wing Leads, while the DFN3333 (3.3 × 3.3mm) uses Wettable Flank Technology, both offering improved reliability on printed circuit boards compared with the standard TO-252 package footprint of 6.6 × 10.0mm. Copper Clip Junction Technology enhances heat dissipation across both formats, enabling high-current operation.

Both products comply with automotive reliability standard AEC-Q101, with the AG160FNS4FRA (HPLF5060 package) and AG166FNH7FRA (DFN3333 package) available online through distributors including DigiKey and Farnell. Rohm is also developing a TO-Leaded with Gullwing (TOLG) packaged variant and plans to continue expanding the 80V MOSFET range.

The 48V power systems addressed by the AG16xFNxx Series are designed for applications including main inverter control circuits, electric motors and electric water pumps. Widespread adoption of 48V automotive architectures is anticipated around 2030, at which point 80V MOSFETs with lower power losses than 100V alternatives become a key enabling component.
